GOD BLESS NAGALIM!

The Naga peoples resistance is one of the oldest struggles for self-determination against colonization in the region and yet it continues to be one of the least known peoples movement in the world.

A voluntary plebiscite was held in May 1951 to determine whether Nagas would join Indian Union, or live by themselves. The result was 99.9% in favor of independence. In persuance of their declared national decision, the Naga people launched Civil Disobedient Movement and sucessfully boycotted the General Elections of free India. Therefore, the Indo-Naga issue is neither a question of "Separation" nor "Secession" from India. Separation or Secession comes only when there is a union. Nagalim was and is never a part of India and as such, Naga independence is neither a question of separation nor secession from India.

PREAMBLE

We, the people of Nagalim, solemnly acknowledge that the Sovereignty over the earth and the whole universe belongs to the Almighty God alone, and the authority of the people to be exercised in the territory is the sacred trust from God, who sustained our forefathers, the national workers and our people through the years of trials, and having committed to the trust of popular sovereignty as declared in the Manifesto of the NSCN on January 31, 1980 to constitute Nagalim into an Independent Sovereign Christian Socialist Democratic Republic, we hereby adopt and enact this amended Yehzabo of March 21, 1980 on this sixth day of the month of April in the year Nineteen Hundred and Ninety-six Anno Domino in the National Hoho held at the Gilgal Camp.

As well nigh all ceasefire groups anxiously waited to hear what the United Wa State Army (UWSA) has to say to the latest proposal made by Burma’s ruling generals before giving their own, the group in focus itself has been busy composing a suitable response, according to a highly-placed source close to the leadership.

The site has tremendous historical and cultural importance and its protection is of utmost priority. In this connection the GPRN seek the cooperation from all concerned to protect and preserve this site from destruction. The council also appeal everyone concerned to abstain from encroachment either for residential or commercial purposes for the greater interest of all.

During the course of more than 60 years of Naga political struggle the adversaries appeared in different forms in different opportune time  to alienate the true revolutionaries from the people; to divert attention from the core issue; to create dissension among the national workers; and so on and so forth. But the Naga people and the true patriots withstood all those and no more in confusion. And it will continue to happen until a negotiated political settlement is arrived.
